Nexium helps in reducing the amount of acid produced within the stomach. Generic Nexium is also used for treating symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Also it is used to treat conditions involving excessive stomach acid such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It can also be used to quicken the healing process of erosive esophagitis.
Patients suffering from gastric ulcer caused by infection with helicobacter pylori or by the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can be given Generic Nexium.
Generic Nexium can also be used for other medical purposes than those listed above.
Nexium Medication
DO NOT use this Nexium Medication if you are allergic to Nexium or to any other benzimidazole medication such as albendazole (Albenza), or mebendazole (Vermox). Before taking Nexium Medicine, you are advised to inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you ever had any liver problem. Certain medication conditions demand a treatment which is a combination of Nexium Medicine along with some other antibiotic. In such cases you should take all the prescribed medications as advised by your doctor or medical care provider. Read the instructions mentioned on the medication guide properly and follow STRICTLY. DO NOT change to dosage pattern of Nexium Medication unless advised by your doctor.
FDA has placed this medication in Category B, which states that this medication is not expected to cause any harm to unborn baby. Nexium Side Effects

How to use Nexium Generic?
You are taking the capsule form of this medicine: Take Esomeprazole at least one hour before a meal. Swallow the capsule whole. Do not crush, break, or chew the capsule. If you cannot swallow the capsule whole, you may open it and sprinkle the granules contained in the capsule on one tablespoonful of applesauce or yogurt and swallow it immediately or you may mix the granules in some tap water or fruit juice and drink it immediately. The applesauce should not be hot, and the juices you may use include apple or orange juice. Do not chew or crush the granules. Take this medicine for the full time of treatment, even if you begin to feel better. Also, keep your appointments with your doctor for check-ups so that your doctor will be better able to tell you when to stop taking this medicine. Follow the doctors instructions for switching from the injectable form of Nexium Esomeprazole to the capsule form.
